Graduates of a secondary school abroad
The candidates for study who have completed secondary education, or a part thereof aboard are obliged, on the date to be prescribed by the faculty Dean under the Regulation of the ME SR No. 207/1993 Coll. on the equivalence of education documents, to supply:
- the document of education (authorised translation), without validation, issued by the foreign state secondary school, with which an agreement has been signed on mutual recognition of the equivalence of documents of education. The relevant Regional School Authority closest to the permanent residence of the candidate thereof shall issue the certificate;
- document on the equivalence of education, to be issued by the Regional School Authority closest to the permanent residence of the candidate, on the basis of the supplied documents on the completion of secondary school abroad (in the states with which an agreement has not been signed on the mutual recognition of the equivalence of documents of education) and a position on the equivalence of education issued by the Centre for Recognition of Documents of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic,www.minedu.sk, postal address: Stromová 1, 813 30 Bratislava 1
Information on the possibilities of studies abroad, scholarship student exchanges, and language courses abroad based on the international agreements and designed for students, PhD students, teachers, scholars and artists in the education sector can be obtained through the Slovak Academic Information Agency.

Under Section 54 of the Act on higher education , a PhD study program is a study program of the third level. In the academic year 2005/2006 universities can enrol students for PhD studies in the study programs, in which the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the SR (pursuant to the Section 102 paragraph 3 subparagraph (e) of the Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on higher education and on amending of certain acts, as later amended), acknowledged the university the right to confer the relevant academic degree. Any person who has successfully completed the master’s, engineers, or doctor 's study and meets the additional conditions for the study can apply for a PhD study. PhD studies are offered in full-time or part-time (external) forms. Upon request, the faculties provide the information on the conditions of PhD studies.
